OPAM: July ‘08. the mud room

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

It is time to get the winter gear out of the mudroom…and organize!!
Ultimately, I would like to take down the closet shelving and replace w/ some peg boards…and replace the floor, paint the cabinets…so this may be a multiple step project. Can’t wait to hit World Market again!

ps. these were taken on laundry day!

OPAM = One Project A Month. June was my veggie garden.
I failed miserably. My garden is full of weeds and the rabbits ate my lettuce.
I DO have some healthy tomato plants

And my morning glories from seed are looking healthy…

OPAM for July coming up.

Opam: June ‘08. the garden.

Monday, June 2, 2008

I have a long list of ideas for projects inside but it has been a long winter - so I am going to focus on the outside for June.

I have a little vegetable garden and this is my first attempt at growing anything edible aside from potted tomatoes.

As you can see, there are some weeds and the lettuce needs to be thinned.

Growing: rhubarb, lettuce, spinach, 3 types of tomato, raspberries, and herbs: sage, thyme, parsley, basil, and chives.

It will be interesting to see what it looks like at the end of the month.

Aside from the vegetable garden, I will be working on my perennial beds / shrubs, and adding some containers / hanging baskets on the front porch / outdoor decor…

I had this finished in about 3 days, so for June I will pick a bigger project for my “one project a month” (OPAM) - which I will post about here on the blog next week.

Here is the before picture -

The magazine butlers are from HERE and the canisters, decorative paper and baskets: World Market (I LOVE THIS STORE)

I love this idea!! Thank you Tara. (check out her fantastic blog!)

One Project A Month (OPAM). I am starting small but hope to do some larger projects in the summer months. So, for May, I am organizing the craft cabinet in my kitchen. I love the location of this cabinet - in my kitchen island, on the side that faces the kitchen table. The boys get into it every day!!

Here are the before pics. As you can see, everything is crammed in there.

and the overflowing folder of coloring pages:

Check back for the after pictures by the end of the month.
I have started a new category - called OPAM to keep track of my monthly projects.
